Allison Luppi(Tewksbury Memorial HS) is the Massachusetts Volleyball Coaches Association (MAVCA) 2023 Coach of the Year with numerous accomplishments:

Unsportsmanlike acts spread further and faster than acts of kindness, humility and corporation.That is why it is more important than ever to teach and spotlight good sportsmanship to inspire others.

This month’s AVCA #InspireSportsmanship featured story recognizes Kansas Volleyball Coach Vanessa Gage. Earlier this year, Coach Vanessa Gage received the “Jarry Thomas Memorial High School Volleyball Coach of the Year for 2023” recognized by the Greater Kansas City Officials Association. Qualifications for this award are coaches who know court protocol, who encourage and get the most out of players, who focus on coaching rather than officiating, and who lead in sportsmanship.

Fort Osage School District wrote, “On behalf of her coaching staff and players, we are so grateful for your dedication to our program and shared passion of the game. We are so lucky to have you. This award is well deserved. Congratulations!”

2024 NCA Multi-Sport Clinic: July 21-24

The Nebraska Coaches Association (NCA) Multi-Sport Coaches Clinic is July 21-24, with registration opening on May 1. The clinic will include the NCA Awards Banquet on July 21, and Volleyball All-Star Match on July 23 (6pm CT) amongst numerous other coaches trainings and special events. Learn more.

2024 NYVCA Coaches Clinic: May 17-18

You’re invited to attend a something special as the New York Volleyball Coaches Association (NYVCA) celebrates it’s 10th Annual Coaches Clinic on May 17-18 in Lake George. The clinic will feature on-court demonstration, ample networking opportunities, and educational sessions with coaching strategy and drills from top coach presenters including…University of Wisconsin Women’s Volleyball Head Coach Kelly Sheffield; Brazil’s Minas Tenis Volleyball Coach Dega da Gama, and Vassar College Men’s Volleyball Head Coach Richard Gary.

17 New Varsity Boys Volleyball Teams Announced

PSAL, New York City’s Public Schools Athletics League, announced the formation of 17 new varsity high school boys’ volleyball teams that began play in early April. PSAL has received grant support led by First Point Volleyball Foundation, with East Coast Volleyball and Garden Empire Region Volleyball Association (GEVA), to support increased sponsorship of high school girls’ and boys’ volleyball.

Weddington High School Coach Reaches 100 Career Wins

Congratulations to Weddington High School Boys Volleyball Coach Sarah Nelson Conklin on reaching 100 career wins during senior night last week!!

18 states, led by CA, represented in 2024 VolleyballMag Boys Fab 50

This year, a record 18 states (including Rhode Island, which is likely making its first Fab 50 appearance) are represented in a sport that continues to grow in leaps and bounds in this country. California, as is custom, leads the way with 25 entries, comprising nearly half the list. Read more.

2024 IHSVCA Coaches Clinic: July 28

Register now to attend the Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association (IHSVCA) Coaches Clinic on Sunday, July 28, at Cathedral High School. Excitement is growing for the 2021 AVCA DI National Coach of Year, Coach Dani Busboom Kelly, as the featured speaker on “Training the Setter, Improving Ball Control Skills” and 6 on 6 drills. Other award winning coaches will fill the schedule for a full day of volleyball learning.

2024 MAVCA Coaches Clinic: August 4
Don’t miss the Massachusetts Volleyball Coaches Association (MAVCA) 2024 Coaches Clinic on August 4, 9am – 4pm, at The Track at New Balance (Boston, MA). MAVCA has been offering coaches clinics for over 30-years to provide opportunities to learn new techniques, drills, coaching philosophies, networking opportunities and mentorship. This clinic will feature collegiate, international and club Coach Jim Stone. Early-bird discounts are available until May 15, 2024.

As a reminder, nominations are open until May 27, for the 2024 MAVCA Boys All-State. Nominate a player!

2024 MIVCA Boys Volleyball Rankings

The Week 1 and Week 2 Michigan Volleyball Coaches Association (MIVCA) Boys Rankings were released this month. Grand Haven (D1) and Lowell (D2) took the No. 1 spots in their divisions in the most recent Week 2 Ranking released on April 16 (pictured above).

Denise Craig receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Since she could not make it to the Annual MHSVCA Awards Banquet, the state volleyball coaches association presented Denise Craig with the Peggy Johnson (lifetime achievement) award earlier this month. Thank you Denise for all you have done for the game of volleyball!

2024 NMHSCA Annual Summer Clinic: July 25-27

The New Mexico High School Coaches Association (NMHSCA) is excited to host its 80th Annual Coaches Clinic July 25-27, at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Since 1941, New Mexico’s best coaches have gathered to promote each other’s successes while preparing to be better coaches for the upcoming year. The event will include impactful learning opportunities to be better coaches including presentations by top volleyball coaches, networking and awards. Learn more.

2024 OHSVCA Coaches Clinic: July 7

The 2024 Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association (OHSVCA) Coaches Clinic is Friday, June 7 from 9-4 at Westerville South High School.

Jen Flynn Oldenburg, the Head Coach at Ohio State, and Monica Wright from Otterbein will be presenting. Also presenting will be Tyson Gentry, who was a member of The Ohio State Football team and was paralyzed in a spring game back in 2006 will be speaking on resiliency, hope and mental toughness in sports. SDHSCA names their 2023 Volleyball Coach of the Year

Ronette Costain of Harrisburg, Kari Jung of Warner, Darci Wassenaar of Sioux Falls Christian and Krystal Weber of Rapid City Christian were recently named Coach of the Year for the fall of 2023 by the South Dakota High School Coaches Association (SDHSCA). These coaches will be recognized at the SDHSCA’s annual award banquet on June 16, in Mitchell.

92nd Annual THSCA Coaching School & Convention: July 21-23, 2024

The THSCA Convention & Coaching School is July 21-23, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center (San Antonio, TX). This three-day annual conference offers a wide range of education sessions on both boys and girls sports, athletic administration, as well as health and safety topics, multiple networking opportunities, rules meetings, an on-site job room, an awards banquet, and an astounding array of exhibits. On average the THSCA Convention draws an attendance of over 16,000 coaches, athletic administrators and exhibitors. CLICK HERE for registration, exhibits & hotels.

THSCA’s Rock Program Coach Castro – Alexander Volleyball

Tania Castro, an assistant volleyball coach at Alexander, is the first woman in Laredo to be part of the ROCK Program, which is an elite mentorship program designed to retain young coaches, the Texas High School Coaches Association has announced. Read more.
